Cross country: OHS girls first, boys second at Hobbs meet
Comments 0 | Recommend 0HOBBS, N.M. Odessa High School’s girls were first and the boys were second Thursday in the Hobbs Cross Country Invitational at Ocotillo Golf Course.
The Lady Bronchos A team scored 20 points to dominate the meet, finishing well ahead of runner-up Hobbs (66) and the OHS B team (73).
Odessa High’s five scoring runners finished in order from second through sixth — Kirsten Taylor, Lacy McKinney, Gaby Valeriano, Jordann Beason and Tiffany Barrera.
The non-scoring runners for the OHS girls, Ariel Renteria and Mindy Navarrete were eighth and ninth.
In the boys race, Hobbs won the title with 30 points and OHS was second with 38 while Clovis (N.M.) took third with 61.
Hugo Corral led the Bronchos with a second-place finish while teammates Terence Martinez and Ray Paredes were sixth and seventh.
Odessa High’s Ryan Herrera (11th) and Roy Ramos (12th) rounded out the team scoring, followed by Edwar Zubiate (19th) and Travis Phillips (20th).
